New Moon in Sagittarius Opens New Pathways

As the New Moon peaked at 9/31 Sagittarius at 7:01 PST/10:01 EST on Monday, December 2, 2013, new pathways opened before us. Fiery Sagittarius lights up our visions and sparks us to take action in the direction of our dreams and goals.   Uranus in Aries trines the New Moon unveiling, revealing, and surprising us with all forms of communication, information, intuitive ideas, and serendipitous interactions that set us off in the direction of plans we might have thought were no longer viable or possible.   Saturn in Scorpio squared the New Moon reminding us that our hardest lessons lie in that which we have yet to understand about ourselves, and about how our lives are intricately intertwined in the lives of others and in what fate, destiny, or Divine will has in store for us. Regardless of what you call it, Sagittarius energy sends us into action, relying on our faith, trust, and willingness to take risks to open new doors or lead us out of that which we have allowed to enslave us (mentally, physically, emotionally, psychologically or in some other manner). (*My mistake-Inadvertently typed Sunday, Dec.1--Should have read, Monday, December 2. Sorry for any confusion.)

The Sagittarius New Moon finds us pursuing our personal goals and dreams with greater understanding and awareness. We have discovered new ways of thinking, perceiving, and processing ideas and emotional responses, and now we have attained a greater level of confidence in our abilities and our adaptability. Sagittarius energy encourages optimism. Take some time to gain a clearer perspective of what you truly desire, and allow yourself to envision long-term goals. Nothing that happens to us, either by choice or fortune, happens without connection to what is going on in the lives and choices of others. We may know what we want, however, what unfolds in our lives is not necessarily happening the way we think it should. The New Moon in fiery Sagittarius represents the path of positive action. Girded by faith, vision, and hope, we can now avoid getting trapped in  petty details, annoyances, or ego traps that drain us of time and energy. Find ways  to transcend minutia so that your vision is clear and your intuition is strong enough to give you the guidance you need to achieve, produce, create, and discover what life holds for you. What you may have desired, now seems possible instead of impossible. What you may have thought was over, is now given new life. What you thought could not be sustained, is now full of new life and nourishment.

With Uranus in Aries and the New Moon in Sagittarius we may feel more adventurous, courageous, and daring in our actions.  Move beyond limited and limiting thinking and behavior, and strike out on the path that will lead you to your dreams.  This is the time to move forward by taking the necessary steps and making the right choicesh for moving ahead with plans, projects, and decisions. Sudden opportunities, openings, and communication trigger movement now. Uranus has been retrograde for a while, so some of the changes that were slow in coming or failed to materialize in the past, now happen.

Saturn  in Scorpio square the New Moon stirs up unconscious feelings, memories, and connections that allow us to see ourselves more clearly than we have before.  What may have been difficult to process or accept, now seems natural and evident.  Such depth of inner knowledge and conscious awareness makes our choices more evident and clear.  We may finally understand that ignoring the truth is what holds us back, and facing ourselves, even our dreams and desires, is the best way to bring harmony and balance into our lives. Fulfillment comes in being present in the steps we take daily, and at this time everything comes together to set the fires to motivate us forward.

Mercury is in the last few degrees of Scorpio, and is set to enter Sagittarius on December 4. We may have a few more nights of crazy dreams or disturbing insight that actually signal some important aspects of your inner and outer reality that need to be acknowledge. Scorpio's deep-seated, intuitive, and sometimes disturbing revelations, come now to shock us into taking the necessary steps to face and acknowledge our shadow aspects.

On December 4 Mercury enters Sagittarius. Mercury’s presence in Sagittarius will increase communication, conversations, and revelations that are needed to further speed decisions, actions, and changes. Mercury, the Messenger of the Gods, operates on all levels, and in a fire sign, seeks action, vision, fulfillment, and connection. While not necessarily deeply personal in nature, Sagittarius awakens our social nature, and fosters better relationships and stronger communication around issues that are troubling or highly controversial. Debate, negotiations, and decision making are favored during Mercury's transit of Sagittarius. Look to see which house this transit is operating in. If you find yourself awake half the night, bouncing ideas around and sifting through scenarios around pressing issues, problems, or decisions, it may be around that area of your life of this Mercury transit. A very mental and ego-driven sign, Sagittarius struggles with all sides of an issue to sort through the many possibilities that may be available. Find ways to calm your mind. Relax more than usual, and find ways to channel some energy into productive activities, actions, or projects. Use the energy rather than allowing it to bounce off the walls of your mind, keeping you on edge or unable to take steps toward your dreams.

On December 7, Mars moves into Libra  opening negotiations and dialogue in all types of relationships.  Conversations with men are favored during this time. Mars, the planet of action, may figure into a series of discussions and debates between a number of different people who are competing over resources, opportunities, and necessary changes.  Focus is on making choices based on quality over quantity, depth over immediacy, and beauty and love over the practical  and pragmatic. Bold changes are in the mix, and strong opinions and actions are done in an elegant manner and with an air of grace.

Jupiter is in Cancer, Neptune and Chiron are in Pisces,  continue the transits through the water signs and the depths of our unconscious. We are more aware of the Collective Consciousness, and find ourselves deepening our spiritual and religious practices now. We feel stirred from within, and tend to feel compelled to connect to our Divine nature, seeing and experiencing our connection with spirit in even the most mundane and simple events, ideas, and conversations. We find meaning in our daily lives, in our work and art, in our ongoing relationships, and in the continuous unveiling of our own beautiful spiritual gifts. We are reminded of the Presence of angelic and immanence of the Divine in every area of our lives right now. Where the outer planets are transiting, those areas of your life now seem to be on fire with spiritual brilliance and a deep-seated intangible inner essence. Allow it to come forth in your thoughts, in your words, in your intentions as well as through your deeds and service to others. Where Jupiter, the planet of Abundance and Good Fortune, Neptune, the ruler of the Depths, and Chiron, the Wounded Healer dwell are the areas of your life that are benefiting and healing so that you can integrate the broken parts of your life and experiences. To grow  stronger and find more meaning, is now the work the Divine is weaving into our lives. Being present, being grateful, being aware, and being open to receive God's grace in our lives, is the work at hand. As writer Annie Lamott says,

“I wish grace and healing were more abracadabra kind of things. Also, that delicate silver bells would ring to announce grace's arrival. But no, it's clog and slog and scootch, on the floor, in the silence, in the dark.”

Pluto is in Capricorn continues turning up the ground beneath our feet, and throwing off the parts of our lives and egos that need to be ground down so that we can find the earth beneath our feet to walk forward. What Pluto has been doing to all of us is churning our world so that we see the essence of what is required to live does not depend on material and static things, ideas, beliefs, or conditions. Our life in the dynamic Universe is in motion, and requires that we wear our light wings, light hearts, and prepare each day to travel to the center of our being to act, live, move, and think according to the core principles that guide us to live out our purpose. When we act from that which defines our inner truth, we glow, create, connect, and shine like the Sun.

The New Moon opens the door to the holy days ahead, reminding us that each day, each moment, is sacred. When we set our intentions and live with purpose, to love and serve one another, we serve the Divine and enter into the act of co-creating the Universe.  "Your sacred space is where you can find yourself, again and again" (Joseph Campbell). We ask the Divine for grace for today to feed our famished affections. In giving, we receive what we need and desire. Operate from the principles of abundance, and give and receive accordingly. In this way you walk in sacred time and space.
