Sagittarius Full Fower Moon

I
It is no mystery why the May Full Moon is called the Full Flower Moon (in the Northern Hemisphere). Coming at the height of the spring growing season, the Moon shines on gardens, orchards, and fields full of flowers, trees, and crops in bloom. On Tuesday, May 29 at 7:19 PDT/10:19 EDT, the Full Moon in in Sagittarius at 8/10 degrees peaks as the Sun in Gemini aligns in opposition to it. Sagittarius, the sign of the Archer symbolizes the higher mind while Geminis, the Twins, symbolize the lower mind. This polarity is active within each of us and provides for the push and pull in constant search for harmony and balance. It most affects whatever area of your life/chart the Moon and Sun are transiting. Gemini focuses our mental activity on thoughts and intellectualizing while Sagittarius calls us to intuit and reason beyond our own narrow self interests.

The Sagittarius Full Moon provides a clarion call to seek deeper meaning and purpose in life; Gemini is content to be satisfied and engaged in the here and now, the immediate environment and current reality. Balance is needed between both extremes, and this Full Moon ought to help you focus on anything that might be out of balance in this equation. As the Sagittarius lunar phase builds, we feel drawn to more adventure, deeper meaning, and a search beyond what we are comfortable and familiar with. Adventure calls, limitations fall away, and new roads appear to open on the horizon. You'll notice at this Full Flowering Moon in May that whatever has been growing and coming to fruition within you, is now coming to full bloom. Whether that be ideas, plans, thoughts, projects, or adventures, the time is now right for those plans to come into manifestation. The energy, in fact, will grow so strong that  you will almost feel compelled to make changes or to set forth on some new adventure. Communication is strongly favored. Whatever is ready to burst forth from within you (or is bursting to the surface in the world around you), will trigger an emotional outburst that can be quite raw and unrefined. When you're expressing yourself during this time, remember to maintain some balance and discretion.

The Moon in Sagittarius forms a wide square to Neptune in Pisces, and this can create some confusion and can blur the meaning of whatever is being communicated. On the same day as the Full Moon in Sagittarius, Mercury leaves Taurus and enters Gemini. The week right before the Full Moon will find Mercury transiting the anaretic/final degree of Taurus. You may hear of endings, completions, deaths, and finalization of a number of areas affecting whatever Gemini rules in your char/life. Final thoughts, words...any kind of communication (even dreams) that signal areas of life where you're finishing things up. Venus just entered Cancer, and Mars just entered Aquarius so much is happening all at once. When Mars (planet of action) entered Aquarius (4th house/home ruler) I learned I'd have to move. So notice where in your life the changes are taking place. This is usually in areas where you've already sensed impending or needed change, but notice now how you're being pushed into making the changes  or actions you've needed to make or take.

As I write on Sunday, May 27, the Moon is in the dreamy, sulky depths of Scorpio. We may find our emotions triggered by thoughts and communications with old connections. Notice what is rising up ahead of the Full Moon into your consciousness where you can acknowledge it, honor what was, and release what is no more. All part of the cycle of life, the circle of life. Remember, whatever we leave in the past, undone, will be there the next time we circle back around to meet it again. Learn what you can, take what gifts the past has to offer, and keep your eyes on the road ahead, the stars above, and the call of passion in your heart and soul. The Full Moon in Sagittarius will oppose Mercury on Tuesday. This will show us, through our emotional responses and sense of well being, just where  our heart and soul, our life and our sense of home is feeling the push me, pull me strain of this lunar cycle. Remember, oppositions show us where we're growing. We can resist, or we can acquiesce, learn, and grow.

Marina, author/astrologer of DarkStar Astrology calls this Full Moon in Sagittarius the Diamond in the Rough moon. I love that description as it describes that potential that dwells within us and within all types of situations and resources. Potential to become requires the intentional and conscious choice to allow the change and growth to take place. When we come to the completion of a stage of life, a journey, a project, or some new understanding, we may feel exhausted. That exhaustion often comes when we've completed some hard work. Get the rest and nourishment you need now, so that you can enjoy the next phase of life. For the Full Moon in Sagittarius, prepare to celebrate the 'find', the discovery, that enlightenment that will accompany you on the next stage of the path ahead. Decan 1 of Sagittarius represents the release of the arrow from the Archer's bow. What you seek has been launched, and is now being propelled forward. Because this strikes us on the emotional level, our awareness and awakening will be more on the intuitive, emotional level. We will 'know' without a shadow of a doubt, what is right for us, and what is not. After that, the whole nature of our choices and movement will be on more solid ground and more sure to be with our full awareness as we will feel that what we're choosing and doing is right for us. Doubts will come and go, but there will remain that inner certainty that will help us move on without giving in to doubt, fear, or the temptation to resist.

We are just now (as I write on Sunday)  experiencing the beautiful Grand Trine in Water Signs with the Moon and benevolent Jupiter in Scorpio, trine to Neptune in Pisces.  In a few days, Venus the planet of Love, Beauty, Relationships will enter 15 degrees thus completing the Grand Trine in Water signs. One of the most lovely and compelling alignments possible. Notice where this all will shine in your life. Notice what parts of your life are receiving the benefits and positive energy that will help make whatever you've aligned yourself with, to become manifest. There will likely be a very spiritual aspect to this Grand Trine in Water as Jupiter trines the fixed star, Achernar.  Jupiter trine Neptune is the sign of the Mystic Healer.  When we need guidance, the teachers appear, when we need healing, the one who can lay hands or diagnose what keeps us from wholeness can be found. Great compassion and empathy come with this Full Grand Trine, as well as great love and understanding...something we all need to be part of on both the giving and receiving ends. A word of caution though. Be wary of anyone who tells you they have the answers for you. The answers are within you and your understanding. Good healers and teachers help you by supporting your own growth, understanding, and promise.

A raging battle  ensues when the Full Moon in Sagittarius aligns with Antares, the fixed star in the center of the Constellation of Scorpio. May astrologers point to this alignment as one of the key alignments that occurs, ever.  "The May full moon straddles the most important natural 'axis in the heavens," says the author of Astrology King.  Located in the heart of the Scorpion in opposition to  the eye of the bull in Taurus, the fixed star  Antares , the Sun aligned with fixed star Alderbaran, activates a militants axis which signifies that the 'winner takes all. This inclines any conflicts or battles being wage will find leaders being very ruthless in their tactics. Whoever you may encounter in battle or whoever takes up arms against an enemy at this time, will use whatever means possible to defeat and will be willing to fight to the death. Stay out of the line of arrows sent from the bow of someone who seeks power and is willing to sacrifice others in an effort to achieve victory. In personal relationships, be wary of engaging with anyone whose own self interests take precedence over yours.

What I've noticed as a saving grace in some of the powerful energy that we've been dealing with lately is the need to find  ways and safe places (including safe people) to take cover when under attack. As important is to maintain the ability to be present and grounded, nourished, and well rested when coping with energies that seem to overwhelm or knock you off center. Remember you have a direct link to the Divine within and all around you, and you are permitted indeed encouraged to disengage when you feel too much is coming at you. We all need time to reflect, rest, laugh, walk in the woods or on the beach...to appreciate the gifts we have and the blessings available to us when we need comfort, peace, and a vision of what we need to heal, restore, and flourish. Notice the new bright green growth on the ends of the pine needles right about now. We, like the pines, grow from the ends on out. While we are rooted and gain strength from the past, our Now is in the life we are living right now. Let yourself bathe in the light of this Full Moon and the watery elegance of the Grand Trine in Water that follow to cleanse and restore yourself in the beauty and energy of Universal, Eternal Love.

Taurus New Moon Ushers in Uranus 7-year Transit of Taurus

The New Moon at 24/36 degrees of Taurus ushers in a new lunar cycle on May 15 at around 4:48 a.m. PDT. The Moon in Taurus trines Pluto, the Great Transformer, in Capricorn and squares Uranus at 29 degrees (anaretic) of Aries. This New Moon in Taurus takes us into the final stages of whatever Pluto and Uranus have been transforming in your lives.

Look to the houses ruled by, aspected by, or directly affected by these two planets. Whatever areas you’ve been struggling with for the last few years, should be pretty apparent to you now. Taurus rules areas of our lives where we look to bring into being what we cherish and value the most. What simple pleasures, physical senses, and aesthetic enjoyment would you benefit from at this time? Where is your life in need of greater harmony and balance between body, mind, spirt, and emotions? How might you honor what and who matters most to you as you seek to create greater harmony in your life?

The Taurus New Moon provides powerful energy for making solid plans. Setting your sight on more of what you want and less of what is no longer working is the call of this lunar phase. In the short term this can be as simple as setting a manageable goal for some immediate need, and putting into motion the intention for the concrete expression within the next two weeks.

This New Moon in Taurus happens just before Mars and Uranus change signs. Uranus has been in the 29th degree of Aries, the anaretic or crisis degree. Final shocks and changes help Uranus’ transit of the fire sign Aries make its grand finale before entering Taurus.  Mars changes signs about every two months, but Uranus has been in Aries for the last seven years. This has been a powerful and chaotic time, which is now ending with a bang. Watch the area of your life that has been most affected by this transit, for when Mars and Uranus change signs, they form a square to one another.

On the day of the New Moon in Taurus, Uranus also enters Taurus. On the New Moon day, Luna forms a trine to Pluto and Mars. This is an indicator of need for action and change in order to more positively affect the future.

Mercury also has changed signs, having moved into Taurus on May 13. As I write the Moon has already entered down-to-earth Taurus. Treat yourself to some comfort to start off your week. Let your senses guide you to cushion yourself for whatever changes and obstacles you may meet. Rely on what has worked for you in the past as you make your way through the week’s start.

Venus has been in Gemini since April 24, and she will enter Cancer on May 19. Our tastes, attractions, and pleasures may have seemed more varied or fickle as the case may be, over the last month. As Venus enters Cancer, we’ll become more focused on our need for nurturing and creating safety for ourselves and those we love. We may feel more  vulnerable, vacillating between highs and lows emotionally. Venus in Cancer, a water sign, also finds us more expressive,  affectionate, and demonstrative than we have been. Focus is on showing how we care through our devotion and direct caring for one another, rather than talking about it or getting caught up in the theoretical constructs of ‘how it should be’. In addition to being more expressive, we need more outward signs of inner feelings. During this lunar phase, with all the aspects affecting us during this cycle, we become acutely aware of our own needs and how we might meet those of others.

Mars has been in Capricorn since March 17, and moves into Aquarius on May 17 a two days after the New Moon in Taurus. Mars in Aquarius releases a pent up energy that is often felt and expressed as anger, impulsive actions, erratic behavior, and unpredictable reactions and responses. Action with Mars in Aquarius can take on an air of detachment. This can be food for keeping some distance from the emotional heat of decisions, but can also be a problem if we forget our humanity and act out of  cold, detached intellect (the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the law). Temper your actions during Mars’ transit of Aquarius with the down-to-earth gentle frankness of the Taurus Mercury.

On the same day as our New Moon in Taurus, Uranus changes signs. A powerful and earthshaking day. From May 15 to November 6, and then again from March 6, 2019 to June of 2025, Uranus will be in Taurus. Taurus rules our relationship with finances, money, personal property, and how we define our own self worth. We learn, during this transit, how to live with less attachment to material limitations. We discover new ways of making ourselves at home. Our inhibitions are freed up so we can enjoy ourselves, our bodies, and the expression of giving and receiving tender loving care. We even find new sources of income, and a freer, more unrestrained approach to increase our income. Innovation and non-traditional approaches to doing business are more likely than not during this long cycle ahead. Outdated, regressive forms of doing business fall away or fall apart, as more progressive ways of doing business strengthen in influence over time. If you’ve been waiting to start a business or make your existing business/work/art more fruitful, this upcoming period between May 15, 2018 and June of 2025 is going to be a rewarding and spectacular time for innovative and creative ways to co-create the world we live in.

Remember the old adage, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket”? This applies to Uranus in Taurus, because the changes and surprises, the shifts and sudden movement sure to come up in this area of your life (and any area it affects) definitely fits as Uranus transits Taurus for the next seven years.  These seven year cycles, and great times of transformation in whatever areas of your life are most affected. Look to your chart/life to see where this is beginning to take effect.  If it’s been in your area of health/well begin, jobs, daily physical movements (6th house), it may not move into marriage, partnerships (7th house). Any house that trines the Uranus in Taurus (Capricorn, Virgo) will now feel the effects/results in areas in the same energy of earth. Squares or triggers for action, reaction, change, response, will be triggered by different energies than they have been. Likewise, oppositions will now call us to integrate more fully in areas in signs that oppose the earth signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces). We all have all these signs in our charts/lives, however they rule different parts of our lives. Study your chart, or have a reading by an astrologer who knows how to read the effects of aspects on the different areas of your lives.

One of the most important tools that astrology has to offer is to be able to see trends that occur and recur so that we can work with the energies instead of against them. We are not doomed or destined to anything. We can always make choices and take action to help lift and sustain ourselves. Having a map helps though. Astrology can be a map to how your trends are likely to affect different areas of your life. Learn what you can to make your journey more peaceful, less chaotic, and more enjoyable and productive.

Pluto in Capricorn remains in this sign until 2024, and Saturn also in Capricorn remain here until 2020. Both planets are transformative. Pluto the Great Transformer and Saturn the Great Teacher, both slow moving, take their time stirring up the lives and essence of who we are and how we function. Pluto has been in Capricorn for several years already, Saturn just began its transit, and so this area of our lives continues to be in deep turmoil and change. We are learning, more and more, how to navigate. The volcanic eruption of Kilauea on the Big Island, Hawai’i, is a perfect example of how Pluto affects us. The continuous underground building up of magma, slowly moves to the surface, under great pressure (resistance) from what blocks it. At some points some of the magma gets trapped in a tube where it’s under even more pressure. When that pressure builds to the breaking point, it bursts through the seams of the earth. Sometimes that is through small, short burst, or at other times, slow-moving flows, or by sudden, explosive eruptions. Pluto works like that within us. What we suppress or resist, builds up until it come out in some form or another. Better to be prepared (Saturn, the Great Teacher’s lesson) than to put ourself in harm’s away. What have we learned from the past that can help us make the adjustments we need to take now? Sometimes that’s a matter of perspective or attitude, sometimes it’s a matter of facing fears, and sometimes it’s a matter of focusing on what the source of the problem is, rather than what the surface issue is.

Some significant aspects for this week:

Sunday, May 13, Mercury formed a conjunction with Uranus at 29 degrees just before it entered the sign of Taurus. We may have dreamt about something from the past that could be a source of enlightenment over a current quandary. Or you may have had ideas or received news that helped you recognize some significant truth or find a solution to a major dilemma. Mercury in Taurus as the Moon enters the sign of Taurus, makes for a more peaceful reception of whatever news comes your way. Wear a cloak of peace to absorb whatever negative barbs or ideas are projected in your direction. Turn back such ideas, thoughts, words to where they originated, with blessings. Release yourself from the obligation to take on everyone’s ideas or perceptions as your own. Compassion and empathy do not require you to wear another person’s pain. All it does compassion does is acknowledge pain, and recognize that you, do what is needed from the person in distress and not add to that pain in any way.

Monday, May 14, Mercury formed a semi-square to Neptune in Pisces late at night/early morning fogging up our perceptions or making things seem very out of focus. If you were smart, you got some sleep. Also in the middle of the night or early morning, the Sun in Taurus formed seisquiquadrate to Neptune in Pisces, muddying the waters of perception. We may rise feeling confused or frustrated, blocked or deterred from something (kind of like that magma ready to burst through the surface). Perceptions are opened in so many different ways, and when the Sun, self expression, is blocked by Neptune, planet of illusion, the subconscious, the hidden and unknown or unexpressed, we are likely to feel thwarted in some way. Relax, and let yourself practice being present in the moment. Breathe and move with awareness of how freeing it can be to let go of whatever thoughts have tied you in knots. Notice how your body as well as your immediate surrounding reflect how you’ve been holding onto or holding back in some way. Notice where your attention has been deflected or blocked. See if you might find ways to ask for help or speak more openly about what your needs are so you can dissolve some of what weighs you down.

Tuesday, May 15, the Moon enters Taurus at 4:49 a.m. PDT and then at 7:34 a.m. PDT Uranus enters Taurus and moves into a tight conjunction with this New Moon in Taurus. Very potent signal of great change beginning! The New Moon in 26 degrees of Taurus sits atop the fixed star, Algol, the so-called Demon Star in the Constellation of Perseus. Named for the mythical Gorgo Medusa, with the head full of snakes for hair. Long viewed as the sign of a beheading, it is more often viewed as a metaphoric symbol of ridding ourselves of that which harms us. That which, in ourselves, leads us to our downfalls. According to Diane Rosenberg, algology is he study of pain. According to Maria, Darkstar Astrology, this placement in a chart signifies where confrontation and assimilation are required of these dark aspects of ourselves. Whatever areas of your life and being the speaks to is that which you need to face and cope with in order to release the tremendous creativity and positive energy that is held captive within.  In the chart of the US leader, this aspect sits atop his chart, and it will be interesting to watch and see how he uses or abuses this opportunity. A good example of repressed anger spewing over and injuring those in its path. Use your powers of discernment and scrupulous honesty with yourself to face what needs to be tended to now. Relieve yourself of carrying anyone else’s burdens for now; you have enough to do at home.

With the many changes happening today, Uranus entering Taurus and all, we look to Jupiter to see what else if affecting this new lunar cycle. Jupiter in Scorpio opposes both the New Moon and Sun in Taurus, and tends to make some squander their good fortune through excessive behavior. Avoid over committing yourself at this time. Instead make plans, take small steps, and look to the changes ahead as a long haul process, not a short, quick fix. It can be a  nice time to socialize or spend time doing something creative. Celebrations of spring and Luna are ways to help channel exuberance and express pent up emotions in a positive, symbolic way. A New Moon ritual for this Taurus Moon.

Wednesday, May 16. The big event of the day and maybe even this lunar cycle, is the Mars-Saturn square today. This aspect signals impulsive acts and violent protests along with over-the-top risk taking. When Mars and Saturn square off, our darker instincts and more offensive actions result. If after faced with some immovable object blocking us, we fail to see what within us is clouding our thoughts, we may act in ways that lead us into a cycle of more violence. If, on the other hand, we learn from our experiences, and glean the lessons of history, we can make changes to the way we live and work that can radically shift our thinking and in the end, the path ahead. We’ll experience energy shifts and changes in the way we have to cope with stressful situations. Whatever small changes we can make to ease the pressure, would be good now. Give yourself some time, avoid impulsive decisions, and adopt a wait and see attitude.

Thursday, May 17 the Moon moves into Cancer. This watery, emotional, nurturing placement of the Moon gives us time and energy to integrate all the changes that have been taking place. Time for rest and recuperation.

Friday, May 18 Mercury trines Saturn, so we have words and/or information to help us make our choices and to help clarify confusion, conflict, or frustrations that have been weighing you down. Conversations may be short and sweet, but tend to ease stress and help regain clarity.

Saturday, May 19, Venus enters Cancer and sextile Uranus in Taurus. This first major aspect of a planet to Uranus’ new placement, signals a very fortuitous, positive time for social engagements. A light of love is cast over our relationships and communication is more balanced and energized for nurturing and smoother sailing. Financial matters improve, and speculation in electronics, metaphysics, art, and electronic information/communication are favored. Time to step out of the comfort zone to try something out of the ordinary. Or for indulging a passion that has been put on a shelf for safekeeping.  Think of pleasure and love as like a set of good china. Kept on the shelf, it serves no one. Used, it may occasionally crack or break, but it’s beauty is enjoyed daily.

New moons are for reminding us that there are always new paths ahead, new trails to blaze, and new directions to head. Make this New Moon in Taurus about setting your sights on the stars that guide you to your joy, your fulfillment, and your service to others in the unique ways that only you are qualified.

Scorpio Full Moon: Reveal and Revolve in the Light of the Moon

The Pink Moon (so called because of pink moss/phlox growing in the high regions) is just one of the names given for the Scorpio Full Moon. Depending on the culture, it's also called the Egg Moon, the Fish Moon, and the Sprouting Grass Moon--all seasonal changes happening during Spring.  The Full  Moon on April 29 will peak at 9 degrees of Scorpio. The Sun will at the same time be at 9 degrees of Taurus. Ceres will conjunct the North Node at 10 degrees of Leo forming a  T-Square. The peak of the Full Moon is in the late evening.

Scorpio reigns over the birth-death-rebirth cycles of our lives. Rules unconditional love and the peeling back of layers of consciousness in our effort to get to the heart of matters, especially matter that focus our energy on transformation and our spiritual development.
The Sabian Symbol for 9 degrees of Scorpio, according to Dane Rudhyar, is The Dentist at Work. Signifying the need to overcome effects of negative social practices and ego cravings (or lack of development), this aspect of Scorpio focuses our attention on determining how our social upbringing and/or interaction has helped our hindered our development and progress. And it requires that we address those areas and do some self examination to make sure our ideas, beliefs, desires, experiences, and lifestyles are congruent with who we want to be and who we are or how we are living. Time to face up tot where the choices we made were not really what we wanted, or where we've grown more into our full identity to the point where change is again, inevitable. We change or are changed by life. How much of who we love about ourselves is still running the show? Dance around that question on this Full Moon in Scorpio, and see what answers bubble up from within?

This Full Moon in Scorpio, in the first decan, is near the moon’s point of detriment. We may find, leading up to the Full Moon that we lose it emotionally. Use the strong and powerful energy to eliminate whatever arises from the unconsciousness or the unconscious acts/attacks/projections of others. Sometimes associated with the destructive energy of Kali, whatever is stirring and coming up to the surface requires a response.

Birth as indicated by Ceres, is triggered and generated  by this Full Moon in Scorpio and inaugurates a new path before us. We are pushed over the threshold at this Full Moon. We may wake up on the floor wondering how we got here. It’s a magical and potent moon, one which is sure to bring about change and movement in its wake. The Sun in Taurus trine Saturn in Capricorn brings a calming, grounding energy to the great changes that have been underway, especially for any intentions set at the last New Moon. Whatever we’ve been learning about dealing with conflict and making the necessary changes in our lives, is now receiving some positive, strong energy to push those changes to the surface of our lives.

One astrologer noted, “The impression that Moons in Scorpio create is one of blocked energy. They want to know all about you, but don’t tell you much about themselves in return.”  And so you might feel like ‘there are no answers’, when in fact the answers all live within you. All that is required is a willingness to listen and acknowledge your truths. This Full Moon will push you to do just that.

Full Moons are times of revelation. What was hidden, is found or comes to the surface. What mysteries exist, make their power and intent known now. What you’ve tried to control or ignore, awakens in you and cannot be ignored any longer. For a large part of the month you may have felt as if you were clearing the shelves and sorting through whatever has built up in your life (body, mind, spirit). The clearing, cleansing continues to make way for the new path opening before you. Discerning what is still worth pursuing, committing to, or completing now becomes clear. Avoid hanging on to what has died or not taken hold. It’s okay to let go of what has expired or lost it’s energy for life. Direct your energy into that which is life-affirming.

Scorpio’s ruler, Pluto, has been transforming your life (in Capricorn) for several years now. This Full Moon highlights what those changes have been doing in your development. Scorpio rules the genitalia and elimination system (the perianal area including the pubic bone). Focus on the basics of life, diet, elimination, nourishment, digestion are all areas that affect our emotional and physical health. When we go through any kind of cleansing or are abusing our system in any way, we feel the consequences at every level of our being (emotional, psychological, physical, intellectual, spiritual). Care and cleansing release toxins, and help trigger the release of whatever has been suppressed within.  This may manifest in some odd and surprising ways.

Time to be scrupulous in our self care and in the way we interact with others. Part of that care needs to be an honest appraisal of what really matters to us, and what we are willing to change or do and what we are not willing to do. This Full Moon is a revealing moon. Especially on an emotional level, we are finding skeletons coming out of the closet and secrets being revealed. Our own needs are showing, and like the spot that appears on our face just at the moment we want to ‘look good’, the truth reveals our inner being in the Light of day and night.

This can be a time of open and loving revelations in relationships. It may be a time when we can no longer hide our feelings or wear the masks that we’ve used to keep us distant or to protect ourselves from something we fear. Notice what stirs within you during the Full Moon cycle that has an impact on us through the next week into the beginning of May.

Mars, secondary ruler to Scorpio is transiting the house where Pluto Is. At this time they are in exact conjunction at 21 degrees of Capricorn. The forces of quick and definite action Mars, combined with the intractable but transformative energy of Pluto make this Full Moon extremely powerful in terms of whatever area of your life Capricorn rules. It also affects areas that intersect and aspect this house as well. Notice where you’re feeling the urgency and need to change what in many cases is the most difficult or the most suppressed.

Lovely Jupiter is at 19 degrees (retrograde) in Scorpio and the Moon will aspect Jupiter within her three day jaunt through Scorpio, A fortuitous and romantic sign indeed.  Speaking of romantic, Venus has entered the sign of Gemini, so thoughts will be on love and relationships and all that jazz. Neptune, the Moon, and Jupiter will form a luscious trine over the next few days, in water signs. Very auspicious for love, romance, marriage, and all emotionally uplifting kinds of inspiration and enjoyment.

Mercury is now direct in 9 degrees of Aries, still far afield of the upcoming conjunction with Uranus when we can expect to hear the unexpected, or receive some long awaited news. For now though as we move further out of the heavy energy of the Mars-Saturn conjunction that made life a little tough, we can get a lot done, attract our heart’s desire, and relax rest assured our hard work, sacrifices, attempts to clear and reorganize, have paid off in clearing the way and releasing energy for a a new path ahead and/or a renewal of what has been firmly established.

Aries New Moon: Power of Our Voices and Words

Understanding how astrological trends and aspects affect our lives both personally and collectively is important because we are all part of this dynamic Universe. Ever changing, we find ourselves seeking ways to understand meaning of life through our everyday experiences, and in relation to the world at large. Astrology uses the energy of the dynamic bodies in our Solar System which have an impact on our tides, our climate, and of course on us ourselves. As we are in the dark of the moon (the few days before the next new moon), it is a time to reflect on how our lives have been changing, and how we have been coping with the changes we know we must make.  New moons are times when a lunar cycle begins, giving us a new perspective and new energy in certain areas of our lives. This month it is in the area that Aries rules. That does not mean it only affects Aries natives. We all have Aries somewhere in our chart/lives. And that area affects every other area. This is why it is helpful to know something about our own charts. Look to the house of Aries, Aries rulers Mars and Jupiter, and to the different houses/areas of life that Aries aspects (squares, opposes, trines). Squares signal a prodding and poking making us have to respond or react. Oppositions show us where we find the polarities in our lives, and the need to find balance and harmony. Trines show us where harmonious, helpful energy exists. This New Moon in Aries opposes Libra and trines Sagittarius and Leo. Aries squares Cancer and Capricorn. There are other aspects as well, and from time to time I will explain them.

March's New Moon at 26 degrees of Aries (3rd decan) peaks on April 15-16 falls midway between Uranus and Eris. Uranus is the planet of sudden and unexpected changes and surprises. It has been transiting Aries for quite some time. Eris, the so-called 10th planet, is the most recently discovered planet in our solar system (2005). Aries, a fire sign and the first sign of the zodiac, symbolizes the naive, pioneer, leaders of the pack, innovators, and the curious explorers who dare to set out on a new path. The Sun has been transiting Aries all month, and this new moon at 26 degrees in the third decan, takes on a lot of the energy of Taurus, the earthy bull. Putting ideas and actions into concrete actions and choices. Whatever we have been preparing for is now underway and/or ready to be put into motion. If we've been thinking about changes, now we'll experience greater energetic input that lets us know we're ready to go. Or, ready or not, it's time. Buckle up!

The Aries New Moon sits atop the fixed star Kurdah in the Constellation Cepheus, the Constellation of Words. Kurdah is located in the neck, throat chakra of King Cepheus. The third decan of Aries is ruled by Venus and Jupiter. It is also heavily influenced by the Taurean earth energy that promotes large, dramatic, and creative demonstrations and expressions from us. Whatever we may have been holding inside, suppressing, or waiting for, now has to come up to the surface and be expressed. Our throat chakra (right over the thyroid gland in the throat) is the area of our energetic and physical body that controls our voice, our expression, and all forms of communication. It is where we hold a great deal of our power. To give voice to something (in words, language, or deed) is to give it life. Now is the time to be very conscious and aware of what you say and think (thoughts are energy as well) will be formed in your experience in one way or another. So pay attention to how you use your words, and what thoughts you hold onto.

As the New Moon in Aries occurs, Mercury (planet that rules communications) stations direct, releasing us from restrictions in communication. We gain clarification and what may have seemed fouled up or out of whack earlier, is now made more clear.  With this New Moon, those who have used their words to manipulate, control, mislead, or lie, will be held accountable for their abuse of language and intentions. It is vital that we have ways to channel and direct our thoughts and words into productive, healing, and creative ways. The fiery Aries New Moon affects our emotional health and expression. We need to pay attention to how our thoughts, imagination, and emotions are expressed as what is jarring, upsetting, or confusing needs to be addressed. We can either look at this as an opening to a new series of challenges, or a doorway to a new adventure. See how these two aspects of the New Moon can become part of our unified perspective and approach to the future before us.

With this new moon in particular, it seems very important to watch our words, not to stop ourselves from speaking but to pay attention to what and how we are communicating. For words, when spoken, written, or thought, have energy and power to change us and the world. Ahimsa, the practice of doing no harm with our words helps us pay attention to our thoughts, interactions, and ideas that we suppress, distort, or speak out of our own unhealed wounds. Being civil and respectful is a form of kindness we need to get along with others, and even when we are angry, frustrated, or dismayed, we need to find ways to channel our words and ideas into ways that express ourselves more positively. I was reading a report my Granddaughter wrote about Lee Krasner, an abstract Expressionist artist (wife of Jackson Pollock). She used her art to express many feelings and experiences that she found hard to cope with in her own times (post-WWII in New York) and from her own experience. A Jewish woman who lived through two world wars (b. 1908, d. 1984) she said of herself, "I was a woman, a Jewish woman, a widow, and a damn good painter, thank you, and a little too independent."  She lived the same lifespan as my own mother, and her generation of women paved the way for us to live using our voices with greater freedom of expression. This New Moon in Aries is the time for taking a bolder step forward in that direction. The newest planet, Eris, in alignment with both Uranus and the Moon shows us how.

Discovered in 2005, the 10th planet Eris, is the dark goddess of our unconsciousness and hidden gifts. According to Maria, Darkstar Astrology," Eris as daughter of Nyx unleashes her strife-bearing children when anyone lies under oath. Eris is simply doing her job of dishing out fate. As a dark goddess she is only balancing the books and keeping the natural order. This Eris is about tough love and brings rough justice. The side of Eris which is the sister of Aries shows up in the next myth.”

Wherever we have not asserted ourselves, and when our voice has been silenced or subverted, Eris seeks release and expression. Uranus releases the feminine from the shackles put upon it extreme forces that ignore our need for harmony and balance between our feminine and masculine nature. The New Moon in Aries conjuncts Uranus creating extremes of  emotional  tension. We are, therefore, more likely to be feeling pulled to one extreme or the other. The new moon rules the Aires-Libra polarity (individual vs relational identity). Whatever we are struggling with or questioning in our understanding and experience of relationships and independence  is now in need of calming and balance. The fiery energy is bringing about great changes. Our continuing need to get our priorities in order, are now reaching a crucial juncture. This New Moon brings this to light in whatever areas are most affected. Look to where Aries is in your chart, and then look to see where aspects of personal and transiting planets affect that area (squares, oppositions, trines, etc.).

Coping  with change requires being scrupulously honest in seeing what is working in our lives and what is not. Examine your habits, patterns, and see what works best and what does not. Allow yourself to see what comes to the surface of your awareness, pops up in experiences happening around you. It may take some time to see the results of our deepening intentions to begin seeing results, so be patient and aware. Do what you need to do to take good care of yourself during the new lunar phase. Fiery energy is strong, and requires a calming influence in order to cope. Change is inevitable, however we need to find ways to move gently through the portals of the majors shifts. Seek guidance, forgiveness, and support for whatever changes you need to make at this time.  The lunar phase ahead is taking you in new directions. Make whatever choices you need to for your best and highest good and your excellent health and well being.

Full Moon, Blue Moon, Libra Lovely Full Sap Moon.

The Libra Full Moon is on the rise. Spring has begun, and the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox signals that the next Sunday will be Easter. And so it is. The three solemn days of remembrance (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil) fall in the light of this harmonious Full Moon. Passover begins on Good Friday, and the wake of light flooding in and through our lives, will be evident on many levels.

Called the Full Sap Moon, this Full Moon symbolizes the ripening and growing that is ready to be tapped into in our lives. What are you full of? Whatever is bubbling up from within you, is now ready to flow out in streams of consciousness. If we are not aware of what it is, we are apt to find what comes to the surface is shocking and surprising, and perhaps upsetting. Consider how you've grown over the last year and during the period of time between the New Moon and Saturday's Full Sap Moon to reflect on what your life is revealing.

This Full Moon at 10 degrees of Libra (start of the second decan) is powerful. The Moon forms a t-square to Mars-Saturn conjunction and an opposition to Mercury retrograde in Aries. Additionally, and very fortuitously, the Moon also aligns with two fixed stars in the constellations of the Crow and the Prophetess. Glenah, the fixed star in Corvus/the Crow constellation, and Porrima, the fixed star in Virgo. According to Darkstar Astrology's Marina, Porrima, named after the ancient goddess of Prophecy, was also the assistant to the Roman goddess of childbirth.

Porrima rules the realms of Mercury and Venus. The Moon in alignment with Porrima tends to go to extremes, either bringing out the narcissistic need for attention or will motivate us to gather others together to do good works and serve others. A time to be careful to whom we give our affections as in our need and cravings we may not be very discerning with our choices. This placement of the moon is said to be in its detriment, making us far too aware of and concerned with what others think of us. Be careful you don't betray yourself by wanting to look good in the eyes of others during this Full Moon time.

Glenah, another fixed star the Moon aligns with, is in the left wing of the Crow/Corvus. Strangely the fixed star Glenah appears to be in both the Cygnus/Swan Constellation (in the right wing) and the Corvus/Crow Constellation (in the left wing). The Crow/Corvus is a small constellation that sits on the back of the Water Snake/Hydra.
"The constellation of Crater, the Cup or Bowl, lies on the back of Hydra next to Corvus the crow. One of the myths concerning Apollo and Corvus tells how the Crow was sent to fetch a cup of water. During the errand he lazily loitered at a fig tree, eventually returning to Apollo with a water snake in his claws, whom he falsely blamed for his delay. Seeing through his lies, Apollo arranged that the bird would be fixed in heaven along with the cup and the snake. And so that he would know the pains of feeling thirsty, he was to be forever prevented from drinking out of the cup by the folds of the snake."

It might be interesting to muse on the myths that are used in the mythology of this alignment in Libra. Some see Glenah as a good luck talisman to ward off or punish those who would betray us.

Another myth says “The Raven, was given a task by Apollo of keeping a watchful eye on Apollo’s pregnant lover Coronis. The raven reported back to Apollo the unwelcome news that she was having an affair with someone else. Apollo in anger cursed the raven, and its colour changed from its former silver hue to the present black.”

As one who reveres the Crow, I find Corvus and all the mythology attached to it, fascinating. There are many fascinating interpretations of Corvus, the Crow and Cygnus, the Swan in cultures worldwide. Notice how your own archetypal story unfolds during this and other Full and New Moons over the next year. That will give you an interesting pattern to study as you continue to grow and learn. I guess my biggest questions would be how do my own self interested attitudes related to how I'm observing and participating in the world? How do I bring on my own sorrows or joys as a result of what I have faith in or not, who I trust or not?  What are your questions as this full moon in Libra rises?

The Moon opposing Mercury in a retrograde path in Aries, conjunct Uranus, can be a powerful aspect of this Blue Moon. How have my mind and gut instincts been doing battle since the New Moon? What has caused or relieved conflicts during this time? Have I allowed myself to flow with the tides in motion, honoring both inflowing and outflowing of ideas, time, energy, and movement? What have I cleansed myself of? What have I cleared away to make room for something new? How have I given myself time and space to rest, recover, recuperate, and relax? How have I faced up to the dichotomies that trouble me, and how do I care for myself as I struggle to find balance? Libra, the Great Harmonizer, is also the symbol of the constant flux that is present in our lives; neither here nor there, neither up nor down, and always in motion on the fulcrum of dynamic change. The Moon in Libra makes us evermore aware of this emotional roller coaster we live on.

The Moon in Libra also square Mars in Capricorn.  The impact of this alignment increases our drive to succeed and awakens our sense of competition. Sexuality raises its lovely head too, as the Libra, the lovers, is activated by Mars, action and male energy in the earthy sign of Capricorn. Spring has sprung. This is also an aspect that indicated protection and a need to seek protection. It stirs our ties to our own blood relations, and makes us fiercely loyal and determined to protect our own.   We might see this acted out in high places as well, wherever nepotism, sexuality, and power are at play. The driving force of this Full Moon is in our need for immediate results and action. Be cautious and steady in your choices and in all decisions.

Of course another big, power-packed alignment is the Mars-Saturn conjunction that the Moon in Libra forms a t-square with. Deceit, lies, betrayals, and hidden agendas are being revealed. Our need for things to be harmonious and beautifully in place, is knocked off course. We have to deal with the good, the bad, and the ugly. We may be reminded of our tendencies in areas where we seem to have to learn the hard way. Falling for the same kind of guy or gal, over and over. Believing what we want to have happen rather than facing what is happening. Expecting things to change without our changing anything. Whatever it is in your life, we all have those areas where we keep walking into the same door, or playing the same part. Identify your own patterns, and use this Full Moon to notice the areas where you tend to keep your blinders on or look at through rose-colored glasses.

The Full Moon in Libra's brightness, shines a light, a spotlight on those areas of our lives where we may feel most frustrated or challenged. And our awakening comes in very emotional ways. Time to dance it out, express it rather than suppress it, and let go of whatever holds you back from truly expressing yourself and being with those who mean the most to you. Let the light shine on you in ways that help you find yourself, be yourself, and appreciate yourself as a valuable, loving and lovable, precious human being. Full of energy, spirit, love, and beauty, and capable of creating great works of art, lasting friendships  and love, and serving one another with open hands, open hearts, and open minds. Together we can move mountains. Seek the place of harmony within so you can bind yourself to that harmony in all you do and with all you meet.

Pisces New Moon: Dance of the Soul

New Moon in Pisces, March 17, 2018  6:22 a.m. opens the flow of the Pisces lunar cycle for the next month. A time when we can allow ourselves the luxury of visualizing, creating, and conjuring up our most imaginative dreams.  Pisces, always in search of wholeness and perfection, moves us constantly in the stream of the Collective Consciousnes, inviting us to bring imagination and intuitive knowledge into form and shape. Beginning with the New Moon and growing during the entire Pisces lunar cycle, it is the perfect time to visualize and move toward a more ideal and satisfying life.It truly is a time when we can make important changes in our lives in whatever areas this new moon influences.

The New Moon in Pisces at 26 degrees trines Jupiter, the planet of abundance and growth in Scorpio and forms  a sextile to that Great Transformer in our lives, Pluto. What we have been brooding over during the last couple of years and preparing ourselves for, begins becoming clearer and more possible than ever before. Now is the time to be brutally honest with ourselves about what we really desire, and how we are or are not working in our own lives to allow this to unfold. With Mercury and Venus both now in Aries, we are more interested in making decisions and moving toward what brings us joy and happiness, than we are in ruminating or dreaming up impossible scenarios for outcomes that most likely will never happen. With both communications (Mercury in Aries) and love and desires (Venus in Aries) in the sign of impatience, fresh starts, heading out on new and unexplored trails, we are more likely to use the energy of the Pisces Solar and Lunar cycles to bring forth what is waiting to be born. The innovative, experimental, and untried path awaits us now. What have you always dreamed of doing, and what is stopping you from taking the actions you need to take them?  With the courage, passion, and risk-taking energy of the Aries planets, we can propel our desires into being now.

Mars still in fiery Sagittarius continues to spark us to act according to our highest ideals and to pursue those ideals in our own way, not as others might be nor towards what might have motivated us in the past. Notice whether or not your idealism under this transit of Let’s-get-it-done Sagittarius didn’t overshoot its capacity. You may have been excited about a project or choice or two, that really don’t hold the power or commitment to pursue. You may have noticed yourself feeling deep changes (a result of deep transformative movement and growth) resulting in a loss of interest for what once stirred you to action or captured your focus and dedication. Whatever is now coming to the forefront in your life. Looking ahead, visualizing what could be, what is it you envision in your future? What would give you life? What would bring you fulfillment? What do you believe stands in the way? Mars in the final degree of Sagittarius should reveal a full spectrum of what has been building up. On the same day as the New Moon, Mars enters Capricorn where it will stay until May 16. Unless we fall into rigid patterns of thinking and behaving,

Mars’ transit through earthy Capricorn should provide the much-needed deliberation and persistence to put thoughts and imagination into form, shape, and action. This Mars transit can be a very productive time, if we keep  ourselves free of negative banter and self talk, the kind that sinks our ship before we even set sail Use your spiritual practices to keep yourself lifted out of the depths of despair, depression, or frustration.  This does in no way mean to suppress or ignore your emotions or situations that you find challenging. It does mean using your best practices and understanding of metaphysical principles to work through and express what needs expressing so that it does not turn into some kind of heavy suppressed negative energy.  Healthy practices now are vital for maintaining a flow of energy through body, mind, spirit, and for heavens sake, do what you need to stay healthy be it getting more rest, seeing a doctor if you are having a serious health problem, and maintaining a stable and well-balanced life style—one that befits the life of a creative person. Mars in Capricorn grounds us, and if we’re overdoing, it can bring us to our knees, so pay attention to what your physical being needs in order to support that beautiful spiritual dimension of your being.

Saturn, the Great Teacher at 8 degrees of Capricorn is going to meet up with Mars soon too. When these two get together, watch out. Do what you can on your own personal level to see that you are keeping yourself in alignment with healthy practices. In all ways, body, mind, spirit, emotions, find ways to ground, center, and maintain an inner calm to carry you through what may be some pretty rough revelations and external (societal) upsets and upheaval. Maintaining calm while all around your are going nuts….seems like there was a saying that these words were part of. You get the meaning though. It won’t help yourself or others if you’re not able to hold yourself together through times where it’s rough riding.

The North Node (Gateway to Change and the Future) is at 12 degrees of Leo, so the fire signs are all lining up in trine with this aspect. That is a good indicator that whatever you’re contemplating, planning, and envisioning, are leading you to some major change or a change you’ve already made is receiving much needed support, extra resources, and positive energy. How are you using and maintaining an awareness of that flow of energy at this time? Notice what may be blocking or repressing a greater sense of freedom. Take small steps to remove whatever blocks you may be placing in your own way. Notice how others or situation/conditions energize or drain you and your movement.

Earlier in the week (March 12-13) Venus was squaring Saturn lending to us perhaps feeling a bit isolated, dissatisfied, or disconnected. Venus, love and passions square Saturn, life lessons and limitations combined to make us very aware of what we don’t like, have, want, or admire in ourselves or others. As long as we don’t stay trapped in the effects of that energy, we can learn something about our own perceptions and behavior. We then can move forward with knowledge to help us deal better with limitations and struggles. I think this is part of ‘learning the hard way”.  Venus parallel Chiron, the Wounded Healer about this time also helps us heal from some old wounds and become more conscious of patterns of thinking, behavior, and perception that need adjusting to fit our healthier approach to living. Venus will trine the North Node (new beginnings) on March 17-18 making this an opportune time to envision, meet, or begin to see what might be more life-affirming in the way you approach love in all its forms.

The Moon entered Pisces early this morning (3:13 a.m. PDT/6:13 EDT) bringing us into the energy of the watery, imaginative depths of Pisces lunar and solar alignment. An integrative process is underway on all levels of our being, as our hearts and minds fly out in passionate search for whatever  ways our creative and imaginative impulses are flowing.
This truly is a time to celebrate the best of what makes life flow. Listen to the soul speak from within and embrace and receive the energy, power, and passion of the Divine into your very core being as you dance through life from the soulside out. Blessings and celebrations are in order. Blessing for your highest good. Celebrations of life itself.

Full Moon in Virgo, Divine Struggle Between Heaven and Earth

March begins with a Full Moon in Virgo. The Full Moon at 11 degrees of Virgo aligns with the fixed star Zosma in the Leo Constellation. Zosma, a fixed star, sits on the Lion's back. The significance of this aspect is that it makes this Virgo Full Moon, the Saint or the Sinner. According to Ptolemy, the ancient Egyptian philosopher-astronomer, this placed brings both trouble and strength.  How we cope with trouble depends, always  on our ability to transcend the role of victim or martyr to become the warrior. This Full Moon in Virgo shines its light on whatever areas of life there is a struggle to overcome, ward off, and transcend whatever threats and challenges we face.

Added to this the Virgo Full Moon opposes Neptune in Pisces, which adds the tendency to see oneself as a martyr or to be overly pessimistic/optimistic unable to cope with the stark realities of a current situation or issue. In the world at large, this manifests in numerous conflicts, calls to arms, threats from those who are struggling to maintain power. For those who have real power and knowledge, the threat translates to the hammer of judgment or the harsh truth and its consequences raining down on those who have transgressed or chosen a dark path.  Because Neptune in Pisces, its home, strengthens our unconscious, we are challenged by the Virgo Moon aligning with our emotional energy to notice what might otherwise remain in the realms of mystery, fantasy, or unconscious desires or triggers.

While it sounds pretty ominous, for the most part this is a Full Moon that relieves many of a great deal of pressure once they realize the laws of karma, love is reflected in love reign true for us as well. When you've been a compassionate, loving person, that's what comes back to  you a thousandfold.

In the position of the 9th Arabic Moon, al-Zubrah, the Virgo Moon is a good time for planting, marrying, and taking a journey. It is not an especially good time to navigate (make sure you know where you're headed before setting out on a voyage or trip). This placement, according to ancient Arab astronomers marked a time when captives might be freed and when new merchandise would arrive or be bought. Test out the ancients by observing how much of this rings true during the Virgo Moon cycle. While it may seem the polarity between down-to-earth reality and unconscious desires, hidden energy are completely at odds, this is not the case. The unconscious, when allowed to rise up into consciousness, helps us find a more congruent connection with body, mind, spirit, and emotions. The challenge of the Virgo-Pisces axis is always to bring spirit into body, and body into spirit. It is the ultimate experience of the incarnation.  Look to where this is happening in your own chart/life, and enjoy what comes up into the Light for you.

This Full Moon in Virgo, Sun in Pisces (Sun, Neptune, Mercury, Venus, and Chiron, the Wounded Healer) make this a time rich in energy for deep healing and energetic enlightenment. You may use the Moon's trigger of emotional energy to heighten your experience in all forms of communication (Mercury in Pisces) as you also enrich your experiences of love, romance, beauty, and creativity as well as connections with children (Venus in Pisces).  As the moon comes into opposition to Chiron the Wounded Healer, you may find deep healing taking place as well. And because of the Moon in Virgo's powerful aspect to Neptune and the Sun, this may be a very creative time in all areas of art, literature, and creative breakthroughs in science, math, and pretty much every level of our human experience. Bringing ideas, inspiration, imagination, and theory into being is part and parcel with the communion of the Pisces-Virgo axis.  Make note of ideas, give into the desire to communicate and express your creativity, and to dream up new ways to do the practical and the impossible. As long as you are willing to do what it takes to bring an idea to completion or to study and work a theory to its conclusion, the greatest seeds may be planted at this new Moon (ah see, those ancients were right about planting).

While the bright light of the Pisces Sun and the Virgo Moon shine their light of aspects of life that might make us uncomfortable or that we thought we had resolved or released, the new awareness we discover during this lunar phase is really a healthy reminder (Virgo seeks balance and health at all costs) of those aspects, relationships, connections, patterns of behavior, or unhealthy ideas about who we are that still need to be purged. This Full Moon in Virgo opposing Pisces Sun is a time when want to be careful what we invite into our lives, for what we seek will find us. Lift yourself out of fear, anger, lack of forgiveness, or the endless cycle of trying to always be right and perfect. Allow yourself to forgive yourself and others, and to invite in what is beneficial for helping you reach a place of well being and harmony.

Take time to find a peaceful way to absorb the Full Moon in Virgo energy and to awaken the Shakti energy within. The following meditation is one way. There are many ways, including immersing yourself in the natural world, bathing in a ritual bath, praying, and setting aside sacred time and space to allow the beauty of Divinity to fill you and the Light of the Divine to awaken you in body, mind, and spirit. Welcome to March and the lovely month of watery emotional energy that stirs our creative, celebratory energy. Give yourself and those you love the gifts of forgiveness, love, acceptance, tolerance, compassion, and let go of whatever stands between you and those on this journey with you.
